Groups and Pages give Tailboard structure beyond the main feed.
While The Line and Dispatch connect the broader community, Groups and Pages create focused spaces built around shared context. They help conversations stay relevant, organized, and easier to return to over time.
Groups
Groups are communities. They’re designed for firefighters who share a common department, region, role, specialty, or interest.
Use Groups to:
- Connect with firefighters working in similar roles or environments
- Have ongoing discussions that benefit from a defined audience
- Share resources, updates, or lessons within a specific community
- Collaborate over time without losing context
Groups can be public or private, depending on the nature of the conversation. Content posted in a Group can also appear on The Line, allowing broader visibility while preserving its original context.
Pages
Pages are long-term resources. They typically represent organizations, initiatives, projects, or bodies of knowledge that benefit from a stable home.
Use Pages to:
- Share information about a department, organization, or program
- Publish structured or evergreen content
- Centralize updates, documents, or reference material
- Provide a consistent point of access for others
Pages are usually managed by one or more owners and change more slowly than Groups. They’re meant to be dependable reference points rather than active discussion threads.
How Groups, Pages, and The Line Work Together
Content shared in Groups and Pages doesn’t live in isolation. When appropriate, it flows into The Line so the wider community can see it, engage with it, and discover focused spaces they may want to join.
This keeps Tailboard connected without flattening everything into a single feed.
Contribution matters here. Tailboard recognizes members who consistently add value to conversations across the platform.
